Villaraza & Angangco signs MOU with Oxford Business Group for 2017 publication

Manila, August 2016: The Philippines’ impressive growth story, which is forecast to continue through 2016, will be explored in a forthcoming report by the global publishing firm Oxford Business Group (OBG).

The Report: The Philippines 2017 will shine a spotlight on the key sectors of the country’s economy that have spearheaded growth, which include business process outsourcing (BPO), real estate, construction and, of late, a resurging manufacturing industry.

The publication will also analyse the government policies signalled by newly-elected President Rodrigo Duterte, while considering their significance for businesses and investors. Other issues explored include the shift of focus towards provincial development, which is already producing investment opportunities outside of Metro Manila.

Villaraza & Angangco (V&A) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with OBG for the publishing firm’s latest report on the country’s economic development and investment opportunities. Under the MOU, the legal firm will work with OBG to compile and produce the Law Chapter of The Report: The Philippines 2017.

Alejandro Alfonso E. Navarro, Managing Partner, V&A, said the law firm was delighted to be teaming up with OBG for its forthcoming report.

“The Philippines’ capacity for growth and economic resilience are combining to heighten the country’s attractiveness and give it an edge regionally,” he said. “I look forward to working with Oxford Business Group’s team to ensure that investors eyeing the many opportunities emerging here have the essential local legal knowledge they need when making their decisions.”

OBG’s Country Director in the Philippines, Rosa Piro, said V&A’s analysis of both the local legal framework and its implications for businesses would give the Group’s forthcoming report an added dimension.

“Villaraza & Angangco’s experts have an in-depth understanding of the Philippines’ legal landscape and will provide our readers with an invaluable insight into the laws governing local business development,” she said. “I’m thrilled to have its team on board as we begin documenting the next chapter of the Philippines’ fascinating growth story.”

The Report: The Philippines 2017 will be a vital guide to the many facets of the country, including its macroeconomics, infrastructure, banking and other sectoral developments.

The publication will also contain interviews with leading representatives, including the President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte and the Secretary of the Department of Finance Carlos Dominguez. It will be available in print and online.
